Try

Show notes for the 384th Mużika Mod Ieħor podcast featuring music by performers from or in Malta:

Jon Lukas WoodenmanOlder – Better?
It’s refreshing to hear such a venerable Maltese-born pop artist perform such an honest and well-crafted song as this. This is better than Better Man, which I previously thought was the best follow up to the classic Can’t Afford to Lose. In this case, older is certainly better. I can’t wait for whatever comes next.

The RifffsConditional
The Rifffs are said to be working on their second album, due for release later on this year. The album is to be called Can’t Stop the People and this is the second single released from it.

Five From ZeroInfatuation
Newcomer band with a debut release is a regular fixture of this podcast. I should count the number of debut releases I’ve featured over the years from newcomers, and compare how many of them went on to have at least one decent follow up. This band are already working on a follow-up and it seems that this song was released as a failed attempt to get them on the Isle of MTV stage a few weeks ago. Let’s see what the next track holds.

Godwin CiniKelli Biss Tmintax
I was truly saddened to hear about the death of Godwin Cini, who I knew as a broadcaster of shows about motoring from the time I worked as a young producer at Radio Malta more than 20 years ago. He was a very affable man and he certainly died at an early age; I believe he was in his early 60s. This is quite a bit of work to remember him by. He also dabbled with poetry and here brings his two passions together. May he rest in peace. It’s good that Eurovision wannabes have this further opportunity to get their ya-yas out.

Julie PomorskiShout
The Malta Summer Hit Song Contest returns for another round this year and I happened to catch this song by Rita Pace and Minik on Facebook as I was preparing this week’s podcast. I always prick up my ears whenever I hear anything by Julie Pomorski, and flicking through the other offerings on this TV song contest I’d have to say that it’s one of the few that strike me as appropriate enough for my own tastes to include on my podcast.
